Neil Carr is Business President of the US $4 billion global Coatings and Performance Monomers portfolio. This fully integrated portfolio provides a range of products from raw materials to industry leading, innovative, next-generation coatings solutions. Carr was named to this post in April 2016.
Carr also serves as President of Dow Europe, Middle East, Africa and India – a positioned he assumed in June 2018. In this role, Carr is responsible for designing and leading the growth agenda for this critical and dynamic region.
Immediately prior to his current roles, Carr served as Business President of Dow Industrial Solutions, a business that enables manufacturing of the world’s goods and services with additive solutions supporting industrial manufacturers associated with virtually all end markets.
Carr has had an extensive career as a leader of businesses and functional organizations for Fortune 500 companies in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries in both North America and Europe. This has included leadership positions for businesses including paints and coatings and specialty additives businesses, as well as for procurement and logistics support organizations.
Carr holds an MBA from the Kingston Business School, London, as well as an Economics degree from Cardiff University, South Wales.
Procurement Director - Head of Distribution Management & Polymers
Antonio’s career spanned across chemical industries and companies, and mainly with Novartis, Lonza and Clariant.
He spent most of his life in Europe and in strategic Procurement, but also in Production and Supply Chain.
After his return from Asia, he was assigned to develop a new supply strategy for the Group, to proactively tackle increasing complexity and to cope with new supply market trends and dynamics, related to procurement of needed chemicals. Thus, in his current role, Antonio and his global Category Team are responsible to accelerate value creation through collaboration with Distribution Partners with focus on sustainable and innovative supply concepts, for all Clariant Businesses and their global sites.
Antonio holds an advanced degree in Procurement from the University of St. Gallen (IMH), Switzerland.
Antonio is Italian, works and lives in Switzerland, with his wife and their two kids.

Global Channel Management Leader
Andy began his career in chemical distribution in 1999 working as an ‘outside sales representative’ for CHEMCENTRAL in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, USA. In 2003, Andy was promoted to the role of ‘resident sales manager’ operating from a home office in Richmond, Virginia, USA.
In 2009, following Univar’s acquisition of CHEMCENTRAL, Andy was hired by the Dow Corning Corporation as ‘North American Channel Manager’ to run the Industrial Assembly and Maintenance (I.A.M) channel(s) to market within North America. Following the successful implementation of a new channel strategy for the IAM business Andy was promoted to the role of ‘Global Key Distributor Manager’ and remained in that role prior to the DOW acquisition of the Dow Corning silicones business.
More recently, in the Spring of 2017, Andy was hired by W. R. Grace assuming the newly created role of ‘Global Channel Management Leader’ for their Materials Technologies business. Andy’s twenty years of direct and indirect distribution experience brings an applied knowledge to the distribution industry from both the supplier and distributor perspective.

Axel Schmidt is the Chief Digital Officer (Customers) for Wacker Chemie AG. His role is to enhance the customer experience and develop new business models through Digitalization. He has held increasingly responsible sales and management positions within WACKER. Schmidt began his career with WACKER in 1994 as a management trainee, progressing in the year 2000 to his first of three overseas assignments in the United States as Business Line Manager-Sealants in Adrian, MI before moving to California as President of Precision Silicones, Inc. (SILMIX®). Returning to Germany in 2006, he was Global Director for Distribution Management and Managing Director of WACKER SCHOTT Solar GmbH as well as Director Rubber Solutions. Before his recent appointment as CDO he was responsible for WACKER’s silicones business in North and Central as Vice President from 2012 to 2017. Mr. Schmidt holds a Master’s Degree in Economics (Marketing, Logistics and Political Science) from Ludwig-Maximillian-Universtät Munich and was a visiting lecturer at University of Applied Science in Jena and the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

After holding several Supply Chain, Customs/Export Control and Project Management positions within Süd-Chemie he worked for the “Clariant Integration Team” in 2011 before joining Business Unit Functional Minerals as Net Working Capital Officer.
Since 2015 he is responsible for the global value chain, strategic procurement and new material development of Cargo & Device Protection – a fast and profitably growing business group within BU FM specialized on desiccants, oxygen scavengers and humidity indicators.
He is a skilled Head of Supply Chain Management with a demonstrated history of working in the chemicals industry in an international environment for more than twelve years with in-depth intercultural experience.
As SSA certified Lean Sigma Black Belt he is very familiar with International Project Management, Continuous Improvement Methods and Process (Re-)Engineering.
Throughout his career he also acquired sustainable knowledge in Customer Service, Operations and SAP/APO.
In his spare time he is a dedicated supporter of FC Bayern München and enjoys spending time on the golf course.

Most relevant for today’s meeting will probably be the experience from my job as Head of Bayer Agency Business, where I have gathered inside information on the challenges being an Agent and Distributor, which is of course not always easy but really interesting to have had the opportunity to see the world from this side of the table. My new role as Head of Distribution in EMLA for Coating Adhesives and Speciality (CAS) at Covestro Deutschland AG, is partly a new position with a broader scope, where we want to have a designated organisation dealing with Distribution, which is a very important part of our business.

Joanna Stephenson graduates from UMIST in 1992 joining Dow Chemical as a Commercial Trainee. Progressing through a range of roles in the plastics division, she worked in Germany and their HQ in Zurich, Switzerland finally becoming Global Product Director for the Dow Films business. Relocating to London in 2005, Jo moved to Sun Chemical to become European Marketing Director and from there to Linpac Group as Vice President for Marketing & R&D. In 2014, she successfully pitched the Board to outsource the marketing function of Linpac to her establishing PHD Marketing & Strategy, a bespoke B2B marketing business supporting clients in a range of market sectors. PHD now has 25 clients nationally and internationally and employs 13 staff.
Jo is a Non Executive Director of Cornelius Group, Co Founder of Women In Packaging (an initiative to support the attraction and development of female employees in the sector), and a Board Director in the European Flexographic Industry Association.
Head of Digital4Clariant
Sibylle is the Head of Digital4Clariant, Clariant’s digitalization program. Main focus areas are currently (1) new digital products and services, developed jointly with multiple teams and start-up crews (2) leveraging the potential of data science across the whole organization and (3) realize efficiency and speed gains e. g. via robotics and automation. Sibylle started her career in the 90ies at DuPont, is also a Six Sigma Master Black Belt and spend five years in China to build a Operational and Commercial Excellence organization in Asia. By education, Sibylle is a lawyer with a degree of the University of Freiburg but has studied the foundations of digitalization at a graduate school of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology as well.
Global Distribution Manager
Lotte Vater, born in 1991, is Global Distribution Manager at Synthomer, a leading manufacturer for aqueous polymers. In her role she focuses on structured distribution relation management and on finding the right distribution partners for Synthomer products globally. She joined the company in 2016 as part of the regulatory affairs team based in Harlow, UK, before moving to distribution management as a Junior Distribution Manager the following year.
Lotte graduated with a B. Sc. in Chemistry from the Georg-August-Universität in Göttingen, Germany. During her studies she gained first professional experience in the chemical industry, working as a scientific assistant at the Max-Planck-Institute. Intrigued by the business side of the chemical industry, she decided to join Synthomer after graduating.
Dani is the Managing Director of Aston Chemicals, a supplier of raw materials that works with exclusive suppliers to distribute their specialty chemicals to the European Personal Care industries.
Dani joined Aston Chemicals in 2001 and has continued to work while having 3 children and moving around the UK due to her husband’s military career. She has experience in all aspects of running a distribution company – Supply Chain, Sales, R&D, HR and Finance, and has also encountered many different work environments including an orphanage in India, BBC Radio, a year working for a law firm in Paris and 2 years working in Healthcare Consumer Research for Procter & Gamble. Over many years, Dani and the Aston team have invested in developing young talent and building a culture that creates efficient teams, enables clear and open communication, and results in a happy, effective and diverse workforce.
Dani has a degree in Biochemistry and a PhD in the Molecular Genetics of Cystic Fibrosis from the University of Oxford.

UK Sales Manager
Julia Bourne, 28, is the UK Sales Manager for Aston Chemicals Ltd, a leading raw materials supplier to the European Personal Care industry. With a BSc Hons degree in Human Sciences from UCL and previous experience as a National Sales Consultant for New Directions Australia, Julia joined Aston Chemicals as a Technical Sales Representative in 2016. She quickly gained an in-depth technical knowledge of Aston Chemicals’ wide range of speciality chemicals as well as a comprehensive understanding of the UK market. Julia is now responsible for domestic sales in the UK and works closely with suppliers and customers to optimise sales performance and strategy.
Product Safety & Quality Specialist
Clelia Rusca is 28 years old and she joined Univar Solutions Italy in October 2018 as Product Safety & Quality Specialist. She graduated in Chemical Engineering at the University of Genoa and through first working experience she acquired knowledge of the REACH, CLP legislation and Quality Management System (ISO 9001).
In Univar Solutions she supports the organization in being compliant with REACH, CLP, by managing specifications and SDS documents, answering to customers’ requests, delivering training, liaising with local and EMEA functions, and taking care of any aspect related to product safety.
She is a very good team player with good communication skills, proactive, focused on internal and external customer satisfaction.
She speaks English and basic French.
Furthermore, she played volleyball for many years being part also of a Second Division Team.

Technical Development Chemist
Lou Sanders, 27, is a Technical Development Chemist for Aston Chemicals Ltd, a distributor of raw materials for the European personal care industry.
After graduating with a Master of Chemistry degree from the University of Southampton, Lou started her career in the cosmetics industry as a Laboratory Technician at LF Beauty (now Meiyume), a leading cosmetics contract manufacturer. In 2017, Lou completed the SCS Diploma in Cosmetic Science and won the Hibbott Memorial Prize for the highest mark.
At Aston Chemicals, Lou’s role is based around formulation development, communications and marketing. Since joining in 2018, Lou has created several novel formulation kits and associated marketing tools, and has given a presentation on Inclusivity in Cosmetics at the annual SCS Formulate Exhibition. Lou’s focus is to maintain her strong relationships with customers, and to inspire them with products and concepts which hit current and future trends.
